The Balearic Islands government imposes a tourist tax called ecotasa. All persons staying in a tourist establishment, regardless of whether they are residents or not, must pay this amount. However, children under 16 years of age are exempt from this tax. The ecotax costs 2.2 euros per person per night until the ninth night, and from the ninth night onwards, the cost is 1.1 euros per person per night.
